Adjusting stability criteria

The stability criterion allows for the ideal calibration of the system to your measurement process. It can be used to determine how long the cargo must remain still before a valid measurement can be taken.

Attention: This article is applicable only to MetriX version 1.x.x.

To check the "Framerate" of your system, press the F12 key while MetriX is running. This will display how often the entire scene is analyzed with the current configuration. You can find this number in the upper left corner of the color image. Keep in mind that this number may vary depending on the content of the scene. Having many objects, such as pallets, boxes, etc., increases the system's processing load and may reduce the framerate.

Make a note of the average framerate.

Next, close MetriXFreight by pressing ALT-F4 or using the Windows Taskbar.

Before making any changes, it is recommended to first backup the current configuration. To do this, create a copy of this file.

C:\ProgramData\Metrilus GmbH\MetriX Freight Dimensioning\configuration.xml

and give the copy an appropriate name, such as

configuration_2023-01-01-stability.xml

Open the configuration.xml file in a text editor.

Search for the line that contains the following information (numeric values may vary).

<m:CuboidStabilityDetectorParameters m:frameCount="12" m:maximumError="0.03" m:outlierTolerance="5" />

The 'frameCount' attribute represents the minimum number of consecutive successful measurements needed to provide a stable measurement (indicated by a green overlay). While the system collects valid measurements, only a red overlay is displayed. Adjust the parameter according to your requirements. Use the previously noted framerate to estimate which value may be suitable for you.
  • A higher frame count decreases the system's responsiveness, but it also reduces the likelihood of measurement errors, such as when dealing with slow-moving forklifts.
  • A lower frameCount value increases the system's responsiveness. This means there is a higher chance of measurement errors, for example, when a pallet is still being placed and is still partially on the forklift's forks. However, the system also responds faster, allowing for a higher overall throughput when used carefully.

Save the configuration and restart MetriX again. Your changes will take effect immediately.
