A guide for our best practice

There are some parameters to consider to get good results with MetriXFreight.

  1. Ensure that Objects or object parts are completely still while measuring. If any movement of the object is detected by the system, it will not dimension the object.

  2. Objects or object parts that are black or very dark may not be dimensioned accurately. To ensure accurate measurements, some customers use a blanket or white foil to cover black packages during the measurement process.

  3. The above information also applies to objects or object parts that are very shiny, reflective or (semi-)transparent.

  4. Direct sunlight may lead to inaccurate measurements. Make sure that no part of the system or the measurement area is exposed to direct sunlight.

  5. The L23X and L63X systems are designed for measuring large and very large packages. Therefore, objects that are smaller than 20 x 20 x 10 cm (length/width/height) may not be accurately dimensioned.
For our L130 and L135 models, the minimum size required for accurate measurements is 10 x 10 x 5 cm (l/w/h).
For small objects we have the S110 or, if the measured object is as small as 1 x 1 x 0 cm, the S140.
Some customers opt to utilize a combination of our systems to ensure they always have the most suitable one available for their needs.

  6. Regarding the L-Series: Any protrusions with a thickness of less than 2 cm may not be considered in the measurement.
If the protrusion is necessary for your measurement, make sure to increase its thickness.

  7. To ensure accurate measurements, we recommend marking the measurement area on the floor using colorful tape. This will help you easily identify and define the space where the objects should be placed for dimensioning.

  8. If the measurement system is physically damaged, bent or significantly moved out of place, it may not measure correctly and needs to be re-calibrated. Please contact the MetriXFreight service as soon as possible.

  9. Put only one object into the meassurement area. If multiple objects are placed in the measurement area simultaneously and they are clearly separated, an arbitrary object is measured.

  10. Similarly, if multiple objects are placed in the measurement area simultaneously and their closest parts are closer than 10 cm, they will be treated as a single object and dimensioned together as a single object.

  11. Measuring very tall and slim objects can be challenging because they tend to tilt or lean. We recomment to place those objects on their largest side for minimizing tilt.
