Adjusting the Region of Interest
Adjusting the measurement area highlighted in yellow, called Region of Interest (ROI)
Attention: This article applies exclusively to MetriX version 1.x.x.
Close MetriXFreight, you can either use the ALT-F4 shortcut or click on the application icon on the Windows taskbar.
Before making any changes, it is important to back up the current configuration. To do this, create a copy of the file located at
C:\ProgramData\Metrilus GmbH\MetriX Freight Dimensioning\configuration.xml
and give the copy an appropriate name, such as
configuration_2023-01-01-roi.xml
You now have two options to edit the Region of Interest.
Adjusting through the Scene Editor
You can adjust the Region of Interest interactively through the Scene Editor. After making the adjustments, the configuration will be updated by the Scene Editor.
To start the Scene Editor, you need to manually open it from the MetriX installation directory. The installation directory is located at:
C:\Program Files\Metrilus GmbH\MetriX Freight Dimensioning
Launch the file
MetriX.SceneEditor.exe
After the editor has initialized, you should be able to see your measurement area. Depending on the variant, this can be a system for measuring pallets (see example) or a table system for measuring individual packages.
The measurement area is highlighted in yellow. The rectangle is formed by the four corner points. Each corner point can be adjusted individually by using drag and drop (left mouse button).
Now, customize the measurement area according to your situation. The following points can help you define an ideal measurement area:
- Ideally, focus on the central area of the image to ensure that all cameras can provide the best possible view of your cargo.
- To avoid unintentional measurements, it is recommended not to select a measurement area that is too large.
- You can control your workflow through the measurement area, for example, by ensuring a proper placement of your object on a scale. This allows for accurate measurements and helps maintain a smooth workflow..
Save your new measurement area by clicking on the floppy disk button (located in the top left corner). The configuration will then be updated.
Close the application (if necessary, using the ALT-F4 shortcut) and restart MetriXFreight.
Adjusting through the Configuration File
Caution: Only make these changes if you have received specific instructions from Metrilus Support.
In some cases, it may be more convenient or necessary to adjust the measurement area directly in the configuration, especially if you have received new parameters from Metrilus Support.
To do this, first close MetriX using the ALT-F4 shortcut or through the taskbar.
Next, open the configuration file located at
C:\ProgramData\Metrilus GmbH\MetriX Freight Dimensioning\configuration.xml
Locate the following section (values may deviate)
<m:Scene m:floor="0.1" m:outerMargin="0.001">
<m:Ceiling m:upper="2.4" />
<m:CameraHeight m:min="0.8" m:max="3.9" />
<m:InnerRegion>
<m:Vertex m:x="-0.655603051" m:y="-0.06576209" />
<m:Vertex m:x="0.902150869" m:y="-0.435459733" />
<m:Vertex m:x="1.43044949" m:y="1.48570585" />
<m:Vertex m:x="-0.26058507" m:y="1.68580008" />
</m:InnerRegion>
</m:Scene>
Adjust the area between both InnerRegion elements accordingly. Save the file and then restart MetriX. Your changes should now be visible immediately.
